This is one of the most common questions we hear when prospective clients call our office. Roof cleaning is still a relatively new industry so many folks have questions about how we clean roofs, what’s involved in cleaning a roof and why they can’t just clean their own roofs.
1. Can’t I just use a pressure washer to clean my roof?
Don’t ever use a pressure washer to clean your roof! A pressure washer does just that—it puts pressure on the shingles of your roof; pressure those shingles are not designed to absorb. Our technicians never use pressure washers when they clean your roof. Our rinsing pumps are specifically designed to rinse at a low pressure but higher volume to remove all dead moss and lichen. We let the water do the cleaning not the pressure.
2. Don’t I just spray my whole roof?
Our technicians are trained to recognize algae, lichen, moss and other unwanted growth on your roof. When they clean your roof, they treat both the surface and the roots beneath. An untrained person may not recognize or treats the roots beneath, leaving an unfinished job.
3. What sort of cleaning agent should I buy to clean my roof?
While it is true that several cleaning agents are available to consumers, very few offer the same killing power our own agent provides. Our 100% biodegradable cleaning agent is exclusive to roofing companies—it is not available to the consumer market.
4. Do I need to worry about what the cleaning agent I buy will do to nearby trees and flowers?
Yes. Many chemical agents can damage trees, flowers and shrubbery near your roof. Our expert technicians take care to spray only at treatment sites and never near trees, flowers or shrubbery on your property.
